Kristen and JR – one couple that will always bring a smile to my face, and warm my heart. Our consultation took place at Ten Ren's Tea Shop where we drank bubble tea and poured over the details of their wedding. During this time, I learned a lot about both of them. They are both SO kind, generous, and fun, and like me... they loved bubble tea. When they decided to move forward with me, I was over the moon to be photographing an amazing couple.
When their wedding day came around, I knew my second shooter and I would be in for a blast. We started our morning with prep photos before the traditional Chinese door games and tea ceremony. Seeing JR and his boys go through the door games was hilarious. They were champs!
After the morning festivities, Kristen and JR had a Catholic ceremony at the beautiful St Patrick's Church in Markham. Shortly after, we made our way to a park for their portraits... and wow, talk about Vogue!
Their reception took place at The Brighton Convention and Event Centre where Kristen and JR opened up their reception with their first dance. But much to everyone's surprise, they transitioned to a choregraphed hip hop dance. They rocked it! The rest of the wedding reception was filled with games, laughter, and some (happy) tears.
One thing I loved about their wedding was how much they integrated two cultures together. JR wore a traditional Filipino barong while Kristen wore a traditional Chinese cheongsam for the Chinese door games, and tea ceremony. They also included the Filipino money dance during reception.
I had such a wonderful time photographing their wedding and witnessing their union of love and cultures. My heart!
